It's All About the Music...

The Dave Walker Project tracks showcase Walker’s incredible voice and Rod’s signature lead and slide style. Check out the bluesy slide work on “Can’t Get Next to You.”
Rod also played with Julie Stewart and the Motor Kings, a blues band from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Check out Julie’s bluesy voice and Rod’s signature lead stylings.
Having grown up on instrumental recordings, Rod’s guitar instrumentals run the musical gamut. From the melodic sounds of “Mr. Riley“, the upbeat, pop sounds of “Mr. Coffee“, the Southwestern stylings of “Enchiladas Rojas“, the Southwest-meets-surf stylings of “Surfing Santa Fe” to the more modern sounds of “The Scumbag“, “Fluffy” and “The Zipper“, Welles displays his command of the guitar using it to weave sonic landscapes.
Though he has played on numerous recordings, some of Rod’s best work can be found on The Bishop Welles Band’s only recording, Hard Road. The BWB, for which Rod was the vocalist, lead guitarist and primary songwriter, was a staple of the New England music scene for a number of years. The band was known for its powerful mix of hard rock, blues and great songwriting. Highlights include; the rocking title track, “Hard Road“, the bluesy “Watch Out” and the amazing slide guitar of “Slide Over“.
